Usually Asked Question From Client
Do insurers conduct a credit check on me?
Yes, they do. Insurers are required to do a credit check on all insureds as part of the legislated “Know your customer” (KYC) requirement.
When am I allowed to cancel my policy?
As an Insured you can cancel your policy at anytime giving immediate notice. The Insurer, however, must give the Insured 30 days cancelation notice.
What happens should I miss one premium payment?
The policy remains in force but a double debit will be made at the middle of the month of default. Should there be insufficient funds to meet this double debit, the policy automatically lapses as at the date of the initial non-payment.
Can I appeal a claims repudiation?
The Insured has every right to contest a repudiation. Several venues are open to assist the Insured in this exercise.
Who are the parties to an insurance contract?
There are 3 parties to the contract (i) the Insured (ii) the broker / intermediary (iii) the Insurer / underwriter.
Who pays the broker / intermediary?
The Insurer / underwriter pays the broker by way of a commission. Where a broker fee has been agreed upon, this is paid by the Insured to the broker.
